Ginsters staff get active!

At Ginsters, we have always been keen to promote healthy, active lifestyles.

One example of this is the Active Workplace scheme that we have pioneered with our staff, in partnership with Sport England and Caradon District Council.

Some years ago, we found that the majority of our staff were not taking regular exercise – and one of the factors was the difficulty of fitting this into a busy working day.

So we decided to bring the opportunity for more exercise to our people, through a scheme that included

• Free health assessments and advice on topics such as slimming and stopping smoking.
• A free 24 hour gym on site.
• Free taster sessions for a range of 80 different sports and activities, including surfing, canoeing, skiing, archery and many more.
• Subsidised tuition in a whole range of sports.
• Free exercise classes on site – so that people can fit them in more easily around their working day.
• Family participation in a range of fun sport activities, to spread the exercise habit to the whole family

We are pleased to say that the scheme has been recognised with a major international award: the Global Award for Innovation from the World Leisure Congress.

But we are even more pleased to say that now over 80% of our staff have participated in these activities, and a more active lifestyle has now become a way of life for many of our people.
