BTCC MEDIA DAY – TOM INGRAM’S READY TO GO FOR THE WEEKEND 27.03.2019
“It was a fantastic feeling to finally unveil Ginsters as a title sponsor on my brand-new Team Toyota GB Corolla this week and to hit the track with the rest of the British Touring Car Championship grid at Brands Hatch. It’s been a rollercoaster of a week, to say the least!
As the first official test session, it gave me and the team at Speedworks Motorsport a good idea of how strong the new Corolla is against our opposition and provided us with the perfect opportunity to keep working through our development programme.
New cars can often throw up some teething problems in the early stages, so we focused more on how to extract the most performance from the car and how it responds to certain changes we make in the setup, rather than trying to make headlines with quick lap times. It’s certainly given us an idea of who to look out for when the serious stuff starts next weekend, though!
It really brought home what a superb team effort this whole project has been over the winter. Like Ginsters, our team and Speedworks are one big family and we all share the same values in how we approach each challenge that comes our way – it’s one of the key reasons this partnership is only set to go from strength to strength!
The first few rounds of this season are almost certain to be a continuation of that learning process with the Corolla, but once we’ve got a handle on that, I’m really looking forward to fighting at the front and putting Toyota, Ginsters and Speedworks in the winner’s circle on a regular basis.”
