It all started with the humble pasty and to this day, our Cornish Pasty is still based on Geoffrey Ginster’s very first recipe in 1969.
Still made with only 100% quality British beef and local veg, complimented by a distinctive peppery kick. What’s more, our puff pastry has 80 layers, which is why it tastes so good.
Insisting on only using quality ingredients and our unique blend of seasonings, and no artificial flavourings, is what gives a Ginsters Cornish Pasty its distinctive taste.
Today, we find inspiration from all over the world.
Such as our Mexican Chilli Beef Slice, which was inspired by a family visit to a local Cornish tin mine, by Chris Eden, our Cornish Head Chef, created this recipe in celebration of Cornish miners, who during the 1800s travelled to Mexico seeking fortune.
Our chilli beef slice is a rich fusion of Mexican ancho chilli, dark black treacle, smoked paprika and cocoa complement the 100% British beef to create a taste explosion on the tip of the tongue.
Our Chicken Piri Piri slice is inspired by tastes of Portugal. A rich and spicy tomato sauce with smoked paprika, lemon zest and sun-dried tomato puree is the base of the Ginsters Chicken Piri Piri slice.
Inspired by North African spices, our Moroccan Vegetable Pasty evokes the wonderful aromas of a Moroccan souk. This Pasty is bursting with butternut squash, chickpeas, roasted red piquanté peppers, with a hint of red harissa.
The inspiration for our new Chicken Katsu Slice hails from the far east and Japan with its fragrant blend of creamy coconut milk with sweet spring onions and a hint of garlic in a Katsu curry sauce.
Coming back around the world to Cornwall, our award winning Cornish Cheddar & Caramelised Onion Pasty, again developed with Cornish Head Chef Chris Eden, is a twist on a classic combination and wrapped in 80 layers of delicious puff pastry.
